Quilting - Week 2 Scrappy Squares

This week we take on the second row of our quilt, the Scrappy Squares.

Once again, don't forget to 'quilting in the ditch' of your whole quilt before you start adding in the details. This will keep everything nice and straight.

If your going to use the 'Quilt as you go' technique, you can just ditch stitch each row as you come to it.

Without further ado, sit back and relax while Heather gives us the low down on this weeks row.

We would love to see your progress pictures and Heather and I are ready and waiting to give you advise over on the Facebook group, so share your pictures with us for some really good advice and encouragement!

Quilting row 1:

1. If you haven't already, Stitch in the ditch around the Scrappy Squares. Ditch all of the black lines. If you like you could skip the coloured strips.

2. Heather recommends stitching across the all of the squares first, this means you can quilt the entire row without stopping and breaking thread.

Heather used a matching thread for this portion of the quilting.

3. After stitching one half of the row, head back in the opposite direction and complete the bottom half.

4. Now its time to add the ribbon candy, you can also add more dot to dot quilting if you like.

5. Head back to the middle square and add the ribbon candy and some pebbles in the corners.

6. Your almost done, add in the back and forth lines in the bottom triangle.

7. Finally head along the top row and add the back and forth line to the top triangle.

Congratulations you have completed row 2!

If you would like, you can download a PDF here. This shows you the exact design as quilted by Heather.

Hugs Paula
